Chapter 8: Putting It All Together

Check the scene.
Use PPE if available.
Check responsiveness.
Call 9-1-1 and get the AED.
Check breathing (5–10 seconds).
If not breathing normally, begin CPR.
Give 30 compressions.
Open the airway.
Give 2 breaths.
Continue 30:2 cycles.
Use the AED as soon as it arrives.
Switch rescuers every 2 minutes if possible.

Continue until:

EMS takes over
The person begins breathing normally
You are physically unable to continue
