Dental assistants and hygienists must have Healthcare Provider level BLS or CPR certification with a competent skill set. These skills include using a bag-valve-mask, performing Adult, Infant, and Child CPR with or without an AED. Some employers require dentists to receive First Aid course training as well.

Training to ensure appropriate action in the event of an unexpected
injury or illness occurring during dental treatment or within the dental
office. Training topics may include medical emergency prevention;
development of an action plan, recognition of patient distress and
emergency drugs and equipment.
Summary of Board Requirement:
To earn DANB certification, you’ll need to hold a current CPR, BLS or
ACLS certificate. You will also need to keep your CPR certificate
