Daycare and childcare providers in California are required to get a current first aid and CPR certification at the healthcare provider level.
Each employer may have individual CPR certification requirements for childcare providers in California. These requirements typically adhere to the standards set by state licensing boards and approved training organizations. To stay compliant, childcare providers must consult their employers to know more.

Our nationally accepted courses follow the most recent 2020 Emergency Cardiac Care (ECC) Guidelines. Receive your Adult, Child and Infant CPR and First Aid certification after passing and add a hands-on skills session with one of our blended programs.
Childcare and daycare providers in California usually need a Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification. Required skills include: Adult, child, and infant CPR, along with the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and bag-valve-mask. Most daycare employees may also need a First Aid certification.
Summary of Board Requirement:
The California Child Care Program Office requires current certification in First Aid and Infant and Child (Pediatric) CPR for child care providers.
Board Statement:
Health and Safety Code Section 1596.866 provides in part:
(2) The training shall include the following components:
(A) Pediatric first aid
(B) Pediatric cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Summary of Board Requirement:
The Child Development Associate® National Credentialing Program of the Council of Professional Recognition requires child development associates to have current certification in First Aid and both Infant and Child (Pediatric) CPR.
Board Statement:
The Council accepts training offered by nationally recognized training organizations (such as the American Red Cross or the American Heart Association) as well as other training agencies. The Council accepts Blended (online + virtual hands on assessment) Courses for Preschool, Infant-Toddler and Family Child Care Settings.

Easy, informative, inexpensive and quick. Online chat assistance available for any issues. I appreciated a way to get re-certified without attending class during Covid. Also the modified info to give CPR when the patient may have Covid.
The CPR/AED, First Aid course was full of helpful information and easy to follow. The videos helped with visual instruction. The ability to take this online and not have to be in a class for a whole day was beneficial to me.
It was an amazing experience so easy and fast with in an hr more or less I was certified it explained everything with so much detail great program I don’t believe why ppl don’t get certified you could learn so much and save some ones life 10/10 would recommend!

Attend CDSS orientation, submit the application/fees, complete background checks, finish EMSA-approved Pediatric First Aid/CPR + Preventive Health Practices (total 16 hrs) and Mandated Reporter training, then pass a pre-licensing inspection.
Complete the CDSS orientation (online or in-person), file your application and fees, finish required training and background checks, and pass the licensing inspection to receive your license.
No degree is required to operate a Family Child Care Home; center staff (especially directors/teachers) must meet Title 22 education/experience unit requirements in ECE.
