Swine Flu Updates and Precautions
The swine flu outbreak is increasingly causing concerns as a number of countries, including the United States, are continuing to see a growth in the number of people infected. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed the nation’s first fatality from this outbreak in Texas. Additional confirmed human infections have been reported in 10 states with approximately 91 cases.
The influenza virus is thought to spread like the regular seasonal flu. The symptoms that people get when they are infected with the flu virus, is no different than symptoms of the swine flu.
It is recommended that people take basic precautions to prevent getting and spreading the flu. It’s also advised that you equip your household with basic emergency items including a thermometer, extra supply of water and perishable food, and regular prescription drugs.
CDC reports that most people will not have immunity to this new virus, and it might continue to spread and lead to more cases. CDC notes that the swine flu is susceptible to antiviral drugs.
